my mother’s chocolate chip cookie recipe is weathered, tested, and true. the measurements are more instinctual than formulaic. always changing. the crumb is weighty. the chocolate chips are so rich, they almost taste ‘cold’ against your tooth - the best. does your best cookie recipe have soul? because this one does; it’s [in] the tahini.
i lived on my own in the netherlands for 4 months, and a box of these (signed, sealed, delivered) arrived in my postbox one afternoon. they had made a trek across the ocean and i could still taste that soul.
